The Wyoming State Fair this year brought 32 entries from around the state, and as always, was a great showing of the quality of hay that our hay producers put up.

We had great judges again this year. Brian Wing and Scott George, assisted by Scott Cotton, University of Wyoming Extension Educator, served as our judges.

The hay show also has a Young Producer Division for those hay producers under the age of 32 as of January 1st.

People’s Choice Voting

One of the fun aspects of the hay show is the people’s choice voting. It allows everyone to pick their favorite hay in each category. The purpose is for people to pick the hay they would want to feed to their animals, whether cows, horses, goats, sheep, etc.

It’s also an opportunity for those who are not as familiar with hay judging and quality to learn more about it.

The hay samples are laid out so that fair goers can not only look at the hay and forage analysis, but also look through the hay to really get a feel for the quality.

Fairgoers can really get a feel for the hay by looking inside the samples on display.
